Classes, Awards and Trophies

For individual males and females prize categories will  be as follows:

• 20 years and under

• 21 to 30 years

• 31 to 40 years

• 41 to 50 years

• 51 to 60 years

• 61 years and over

Classes will be determined by age on the day of the race

For teams of 3 (or 2) persons, each doing a particular part of the whole event, the classes will be:-

• All male team

• All female team

• Mixed team

The organisers reserve the right to merge classes if there are insufficient entries for a particular category.

Awards

A souvenir Harlech Triathlon shoulder bag  will be given to all competitors when registering - please ensure that one is collected for each member of your team.

Each competitor, as he / she crosses the finish line at the end of the race will receive a commemorative, engraved slate medallion. Team members please remember to collect medallions for other members of your team.

Performance awards to individual competitors will be free-standing slate plaques of varying size, with an engraved brass plate showing the class and performance for which it was given.

Distribution of performance awards to individual competitors

• in each individual or category there will be an award for first place

• in each individual or category there will be an award for the best novice (less than 3 triathlons completed by 11 May 2008)

• there will be additional awards in each category, decided by the organisers, depending on the number of entrants

• as a guide there will be not less than three awards in all of the larger categories, actual numbers will be displayed in the finish area on the day of the event.

Distribution of awards to team competitors

• a slate plaque will be given to each member of the winning team in each of the team classes.

Challenge trophies

In addition to the awards listed above, Challenge Trophies will be offered as follows:-

• HSBC Challenge Cup for the best male competitor
• Tremadog Bay Cup for the best female competitor
• Glyndwr award for the fastest individual male competitor from Twtil to the finish
• Glyndwr award for the fastest individual female from Twtil to the finish
• Glyn Williams Shield for the best performance by a member of the Harlech Wheelers Cycling Club
• Robin Reeves Trophy for the best male athlete living in Meirionnydd
• Raven Trophy for the best female athlete living in Meirionnydd

It is a condition for acceptance of a challenge trophy by any competitor that the trophy will be returned to the organisers on demand and not later than 4 weeks before the announced date of the 2008 event
